Q: Deep bumping noise when accelerating and truck doesn’t accelerate very well

asked by on March 26, 2018

I have a standard ranger. When I start it up it idles fine but when I try to drive it hesitates and doesn’t let the rpms go up for me to accelerate. It also makes a noise when the engine is revved. It sounds like a deep “bump” if that makes any sense at all. I’ve replaced the fuel filter and still no luck

My car has 183000 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.

Rear end feels unstable.
Hi there: Sometimes this issue can be a symptom of bad or failing lateral links (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-lateral-link). When the lateral link goes bad or wears out, it can cause the rear end to be loose, impact steering, and in some cases,...

Engine starts to sputter at around 2k rpm when at normal operating temperature.
Hi There, It sounds like you may have a bad oxygen sensor. As you may know, when the engine is cold there is more fuel supplied to the motor that is gradually trimmed out as the engine warms up. If...
2001 Subaru Forester clutch sticking half way up. I can use my foot to pull it up rest of the way

I have white smoke coming from my tail pipe I also have to put water in my car about every 3 days what could the problem be
Hi there. Unfortunately, this appears to be a blown head gasket or significant coolant leak inside the motor. White smoke from the tail pipe is caused by coolant that is mixed with engine oil and is burned inside the combustion...
I just had my radiator replaced and it started and I drove five mins to store and it wouldn't start up back.
I think that there may be some misunderstanding about exactly what was done. Replacing a crankshaft would be a major operation that would cost thousands of dollars. So I think there might have been something else going on. I certainly...
