Q: Code threw up for neutral position safety switch, replaced the switch, but 2001 xterra still won't start.

asked by on October 05, 2017

The X threw up the code for a Neutral safety switch a while back, but it was still starting and driving fine. Within a weeks time, the X had troubles turning over (slow cranking), then eventually wouldn't start at all. Checked the alternator and it's good, it has a new battery, new starter, and now a new clutch safety switch that's behind the clutch as well as the neutral position switch that's on top of the transmission. Yet, the X still won't start. I am at a loss.
