Q: Clutch or tranny issue? 2001 Ford Mustang

asked by on December 18, 2016

My car refuses to go into gear most of the time during start up. Since my clutch is cable it is not a hydraulic issue. Once the car actually goes into gear it runs fine no problem and shifts fine until it gets turned off and gets cold again. There are no noises or smells to bring up. Only thing is if you grind reverse first during all this it will start to shift into all gears no problems. I have been told its the clutch, its the pressure plate, its the cable, its the pilot bearing so i have no idea where to start..

My car has 138000 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.
