Q: clutch not working properly

asked by on July 17, 2016

My 540i functions normally when I am driving slow, but when I drive it more than a quarter throttle the revs spike and the acceleration does not match. It feels as if I am feathering the clutch when my left foot is completely off the pedal. As I let up on the gas the engine seems to catch up with the rpms. It struggles at times on medium sized hills with the same problems. There are no wierd, noisy sounds when shifting gears. Can you help?

My titan recently began to shutter while I was accelerating. When it stopped I couldn't get it to go faster than 40mph.
My first thought is, what code is the TCM (transmission control module) setting? Usually when a vehicle won't go faster than 40 mph, the vehicle has set itself into limp mode. It does this to protect itself from what it...

I have a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica 3.5L V6 FWD, and I have 3 bad motor mounts.
Hi there. If any of your motor/transmission mounts are bad (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/engine-mount-replacement) - and you indicate that 3 of them are - I would recommend you replace them all at once. The reasoning is that any broken mount allows the engine/transmission...
Car starts fine, sputters even when giving it gas, shakes and dies, sometimes there's a clanging in the engine
Hi there. Sounds like the engine is not getting enough fuel as if the fuel pump is not working. The engine will start normally and then die off when you give it gas. Check the fuel pressure when the engine...

I have a Chrysler Sebring 2010 the red lighting bolt light came on and so did the traction light
In Chrysler speak, the red lightning bolt usually means a charging system or electrical malfunction. Your other lights and issues might come from the same cause. If the system voltage gets too low or too high, all sorts of things...
just replaced the timing chain and guides on 86 nissan z24 and now it smokes bad and now power
If these symptoms did not exist prior to replacing the timing chain, a possibility is the valve timing is off because the new chain is mispositioned. You can get an indirect indication of incorrect valve timing by measuring engine vacuum....
