Q: I have a 2005 Cadillac Escalade Truck that is making a roaring and popping noise from the front end.

asked by on May 10, 2017

Front wheel bearing or both bearings are "roaring" while driving, - likely worn out. Had similar sounds four years ago at about 150,000 miles and replaced both front hubs and bearings. Now also loud "popping" or "clunking" noise (for some time now) when backing from parking stall while also turning, suspect front axle CV joints also shot.

How much to replace both front half-axles, both front wheel bearings/hubs, and both CVC joints...essentially rework all of front end except for pumpkin and brakes..?

My car has 210000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

A loud 'pop' occurred, and car will not drive foreword or back. Did my axle break? 2012 Dodge Journey
Hello - this scenario seems to me to be a failure of a CV joint (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/is-it-safe-to-drive-with-a-damaged-cv-joint) the axle, or the transmission itself. Turning and accelerating puts a great load on CV joints. If this is no longer a warranty-covered item,...
