Q: Car will start but will not run.

asked by on July 19, 2017

Hello, to whoever it is that can help me. I had a previous issue starting about 3 weeks ago. Spark plugs # 3, 4, and 5 starting going bad. Changed 4 and 5 but still need to change #3. Anyway, my wife dropped me off at work, went to drive home ( less than a mile) and my car stalled out. Wouldn't run again. She came to get me and I found out that the car decelerated, puttered and stalled. Was going up hill and wouldn't rev past 2200 rpms. Now if you try to start it, It will crank and turn over but will simply stall out after 1-3 seconds, If you hit the gas while cranking it will spike to 3000 rpms and then just stall unless you hold the gas pedal to the floor then it will putter for 10-30 seconds at around 500 rpms until it stalls. I've changed the fuel filter, spark plugs, ignition coils, and used fuel injection cleaner. I cleaned the throttle body with a tooth brush and car will run without the air hose attached but will stall if I reattach. Any suggestions before I spend more money?

Car overheating and not defrosting properly.
Hi, I have seen this issue quite often on the PT Cruiser. This is typically caused by a failure in the heater core that is located in the dash. This part carries hot coolant into the interior of the car...
The car doesn't shift into first gear while it works fine in reverse

It is possible that this could be related to your mass air flow sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/mass-airflow-sensor-replacement) on your 2001 Honda Passport. The mass air flow sensor and the throttle position sensor work in conjunction with each other to send signals to...
MY truck wouldn't start this morning after several attempts, now it does. What could have been the problem.
Hi there. From the description you have provided, leads me to believe the slow and no crank may be, a battery (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/battery-replacement) and/or battery connection (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/service-battery-cables) issue. It could also be, a faulty starter relay (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/starter-relay-replacement) or starter (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/starter-replacement) concern....

My car is blowing cold air when moving approx <30mph and temperature gauge is high
