Hello, thank you for writing in. You are correct that your starter may be to blame. However, if you have had no other issues before this, then you will want to start by testing the battery first. Even if the lights come on, they take very little power compared to the starter which needs a strong battery. You can do this if you have a voltmeter, or take it to your local parts store for testing. If the battery is fine, you can then test the starter to make sure it is receiving full power at its solenoid. If it is, then you know the starter needs to be replaced.
