Q: Car sometimes shuts off when out in reverse.

asked by on January 03, 2018

It's not all the time, but when I shift my Excursion in reverse it has the tendency to humm low and the rpm lowers but will go back to normal idle, or it'll shut off. I always shift to drive first then reverse and that seems to work but I'm unsure if it's the transmission fluid or something else.

My car has 290000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
