Q: Car not going into second gear

asked by on

My car won't go into second gear. I had it checked and I think it's a stretched shifter cable. The gear shifter goes into every other gear just fine.

This could be a linkage issue, such as a shifter cable. The problem could also be the synchronizers inside the gearbox keeping the gear from engaging. If so, the gearbox will need rebuilt or replaced. I would have a qualified technician take a look at your vehicle to diagnose what’s wrong with your gear.
