Q: Car kept rolling forward when put in reverse, by the time it finally switched gears the transmission thumped really hard
This car generally runs pretty smooth. Always keep an eye on the RPM gauge and it isn't ever moving around too crazy. Yesterday I was making a U turn on a slighty inclined road...put my car in reverse and it wouldnt move, stepped on the gas a little and it started moving forward instead and took a good 30 secs for it too finally switch into reverse and made a loud thump under the hood when it finally did switch. Does the transmission need to be rebuilt, are the engine mounts bad or is this a fairly simple/inexpensive issue to fix? Thanks!
