Q: car is jerking while i am driing it and its making a noise and the engine light comes on and its driving very rough

the car is jerking while I am driving and its making a noise and the engine light came on. I pulled over and I cut the car off about 10 mins later it was fine. Then about 10 mins later of driving it started going the same thing.

My car has 197000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
