The car will run smoothly most of the time. When the engine has warmed up, the car intermittently stalls. It usually happens around 30 - 40 mph. I think this is not a limp mode. The car suddenly lost power. If I press the gas pedal, the engine rmp won’t go up but goes down and the car begins to choke back and forth. The car soon slowed down, and I had to pull the car to the side of the street and came to a complete stop. The engine then idled normally. However, if I press the gas pedal the car just choked and won’t run. Interestingly, if I shift to reverse and the car backed up smoothly. It seems the transmission was locked up to a higher gear and won’t rotate. Then I shut down the car, and within 3 sec I restarted – the car ran smoothly again.
The problem may be transmission related. Looks like a shifting problem. And heat is also a factor to consider. The car never stalls at cold, and only when it’s fully warmed up. Something resets itself when I shut down the car.
