Q: Car heats up while idling.

asked by on February 21, 2017

Whenever my car is idling for an extended period of time, my car starts to heat up. It moves from being in the middle of the "C" and "H" almost all the way up to the "H". The engine starts to make a loud reviving sound. Then it will spontaneously cool down again. It only happens a few times when the car is idling or between close stops but never while driving. I just wanted to know what the possible issue may be.

My car has 223566 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
