Q: Car hard to start

asked by on December 29, 2016

I am having trouble starting my car. I turn the ignition and it doesn't start. I turn it off and try again. It usually starts with the second try, but sometimes it takes another. But it does start. I am afraid at some point it won't. This has been going on for 3 days.

The first time it happened I did not try a second time and called road service for a jump thinking it was the battery. It was jumped and he said it might not be the battery. The next time at the end of the day when I was ready to go home is when it started with extra tries.

My car has 99800 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Engine starts but won't idle
The problem is most likely the fuel injection spider and fuel pump (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-fuel-pump) that needs to be replaced. The spider is inside the intake upper manifold and would cost over $1000 to get replaced. The fuel pump would be around...
Brake pads replaced but still feel soft

AC failed and started running rough and the Check Engine Light came on. But NOW its fine.
I wouldn't concern yourself with the timing of your cars symptoms. When a car fails, I liken it to when a light bulb decides to burn out. It was just its time. Everything will eventually fail. I also would strongly...
Car stalled while driving, now won't restart.
Hi there, thanks for writing in. I'd be happy to offer my insight. Judging by the mileage and age of the car, I would suspect the car has been sitting for a length of time. With that being said, I...
