Q: Car does not stay started in drive.

asked by on

Idles and revs smoothly in neutral, but bucks and dies when put into drive.

It sounds like you may have a problem with the transmission. I would take the car to a transmission specialist to determine the problem. I suspect that it is something bad like the clutches in the transmission are worn out and locked together. There could also be something wrong with the torque converter clutch. Either way, a transmission specialist should be able to determine the problem.
