Q: Cant turn key out of "lock" or move steering wheel much

asked by on

The steering wheel will only move to the right a little bit and the key wont turn over to start car, its stuck on the "lock" option.
My car has a manual transmission.

Hi there:

This is usually an indicator that the ignition lock cylinder is stuck or that the assembly (or small components that comprise this system or the steering column) are damaged. The best way to know for certain is to have a professional mechanic complete a key is stuck in ignition inspection so they can determine what is damaged and recommend the right repairs.
