Q: Can you replace a radiator and transmission for a 2066 Xterra?

asked by on September 11, 2017

I have been told by a transmission specialist that my radiator and transmission need to be replaced due to coolant mixing with the radiator fluid. Apparently a very common problem for the Xterra between 2006-10. He quoted $5,000 for the job. Is this something you could do for cheaper?

My car has 103000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

I turn the key and I hear the starter spinning but it does not crank the engine. Is it the starter or part of it?

The most common possibility is the battery is faulty. As the voltage decays, due to the battery being faulty, the vehicle enters the "saver" mode that you are seeing. The first thing to do is load test the battery (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/battery-is-dead-inspection)....
