Q: Can't get out of Park

asked by on

Break pedal goes soft, break lights don't work, and can't get the vehicle out of park... thoughts?

My car has 110000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Have the brake light switch checked on the brake lever under dash. If you do not get brake lights then it will not unlock the shifter since car does not know you are holding brake. The switch should have power on one side of brake light switch and power out of the other side when pushing brake. If power in and not out then replace switch.
