I recently got an oil change at an independent shop on my 2002 Toyota Camry XLE. This car was bought from the original owner who barely drove it, had 40k miles when I bought it in 2015. I've had nothing but good things with the car. Follow the regular oil maintenance schedule and go to get it replaced when the next time comes along. I've had the oil changed once since I've owned the car. I get the oil changed and everything is fine until about 2 weeks later. I see the CHECK ENGINE light on. I buy an OBD scanner from Amazon and find the following 3 codes: 1. P0440 Evaporative Emission System 2. P0441 Evaportative Emission System Incorrect Purge Flow 3. P0446 Evaporative Emission System Vent Control Circuit. Google the codes and find that i can be caused by the gas cap not being closed correctly. I reseat the gas cap and clear the codes. About 2 weeks later they reappear. So I ask the title, Can OBD codes related to the EVAP system be trigged by something in an oil change?
