Q: Can a older model truck burn 5 quarts of oil in a couple of weeks with out a leak?

asked by on September 14, 2017

i used a friend truck for a little over 2 weeks, gave the truck back and the next day he says his car broke down the engine blew out because he had no oil...so the service engine light was already on but no other light came on or his dash board never read low oil life(like it does when the fuel gets low)...he said he had checked his oil a few days before I used it and had 5 quarts of oil. his car was not leaking and the day I gave it to him it drove just fine no warning lights or nothing. I did in town driving to work and a when I needed to go some where but half the time It was parked. he claims I should have checked the oil every week. his car does not leak so is possible his truck burns that much oil in a 2 week time span unless there is a leak or other serous issues?
