Q: Cam shaft position sensor

asked by on February 16, 2017

We recently had our engine replaced recently. Come to find out the engine we got is from a 2007 ford focus. We have a 2009, and all electronically parts of an engine were transfered from our 2009 to the 2007 engine. Everything works great except the cam shaft position sensor. Our mechanic wants to replace the cam shaft itself saying it us not compatible and needs to be switched to a 2009 so it works. Couldn't we just switch the position sensor to a 2007 or is it not that easy? What would be the best and cheapest way to solve this problem.
