Q: Broken piece inside the tumbler. Piece was so far wedged in there had to take out the ignition cylinder. Car wont start

Someone jamed something inside my ignition. I went to start my car but couldn't get my key in all the way. My mechanich tried to get it out. We had to remove the steering column, ignition cylinder. Still not able to start my car with key. We used a screwdriver and it cranks but no start. 1999 Toyota avalon Could it be the alarm? Batterie is good. Car was running before they jammed something inside ignition key.
