Q: Blown head gasket

asked by on

which is more logical; install new gasket or replace engine? cost; time time.

My car has 95000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

You can certainly replace a head gasket much quicker and cheaper than replacing the entire motor. Assuming you know that the head gasket is in fact the problem and that there is not any damage related to the engine block and hopefully minimal to no damage to the cylinder head, I would recommend replacing the head gasket rather than the entire engine.
