Q: Battery fully drains within 1-2 days

asked by on February 07, 2017

I installed an aftermarket subwoofer and amplifier in my truck. A few months later, my battery began draining within 2 days and couldn't be jumped from another car. The only way it would jump start is if I used a jump start pack. I proceeded to disconnect the subwoofer and amplifier from every single spot it was connected to the truck, so there was no aftermarket product attached anywhere in the truck. But the truck continued to drain so I took it to BestBuy Geek Squad, where they told me I had a parisitic draw from the stereo. I bought a new stereo and had it installed but a few days later, the battery was fully drained again. I know it is coming from the stereo/stereo wiring somewhere because if i remove the stereo fuse, then the battery will stay charged, but I have no idea what to look for now that I have installed a new radio

My car has 60000 miles.

How do you check the power steering fluid?
Power steering fluid is vital for the system to work correctly. However, your car may or may not have a hydraulic system. If you have the 2.5-liter engine or the 3.0-liter engine, your system is completely electronic and does not...

Hey there. One of many components can cause a no crank condition. A bad ignition switch (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-ignition-switch) can be a cause. If the switch does not send a signal to the starter, nothing will happen when you turn the ignition...
Hi, I am hearing a very loud "rolling thunder" noise while driving that gets louder at higher speeds.. What could be the issue?

Warning lights still on 2001 Pontiac Grand Am
Hi there - the next level of diagnostics are going to be required - specifically the ABS system. (Top level OBD II codes aren't enough here) I suspect you have a wheel speed sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-wheel-speed-sensor) that is dirty or malfunctioning....
My car won't stop unless I floor the brake pedal. Brake Check replaced the booster, and the brakes locked up. 5000 rpms just to go

My Clutch is loose and my car won't shift.
Hi Colburn. It's quite possible that the master or slave cylinder is the root source of your problem - as this is a common symptom (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-clutch-master-cylinder) associated with these components when damaged or leaking fluid. Abnormal pedal pressure is another...
