Q: Battery fully discharged

asked by on

My battery is fully discharged.

Your battery can discharge simply because it failed. If it has failed internally it will short and lose charge. In this scenario, the battery will need to be replaced. If the battery is fine then the problem is in the electronic ignition switch. These fail frequently on this vehicle and will not allow the electronic systems to turn off when the ignition is turned off. In this case, you will need to replace the ignition switch. If the vehicle is out of warranty and you need this done, consider YourMechanic, as a certified mechanic can come to your home or office to diagnose your battery and make the repairs needed.
