Q: Batteries at 13v go dead after trying to start it

asked by on

The batteries are reading 13 volts hard start it sounds like they don't have enough voltage in them to start the truck then after I try and start it they read 8 volts

My car has 130000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

You need to have the battery charged and load tested. A battery may hold 13 volts and as soon as a load is put on it drop below 9 volts when they are bad. If you want to have this done, a technician from YourMechanic can visit you at your car’s location to diagnose your starting issue and make the correct repair.
