Q: As soon as Ac is switched on the engine goes off

asked by on

When driving without Ac,car drives fine but engine will be going off as soon as the Ac is switched on and the rpm is 900

My car has 70354 miles.

Hi there:

An AC compressor that is either broken or starting to fail can stall your engine when you turn on the air or defroster because it sends a signal to engage the clutch on the compressor, which causes more resistance than normal. However, this fault can be triggered by switches that level out your idle electronically when there is increased load. The best way to determine what is causing this problem for your 2009 Nissan is to have a professional mobile mechanic complete a car is stalling inspection.
