Q: Air suspension in gl450, does it suppose to move when it's parked and running?

asked by on March 10, 2018

Hello,

I'm interested in purchasing a 2007 Mercedes GL450. I went to test drive it today however when it was in park and still running, I heard hissing noises and the car was moving up and down. Is that suppose to happen when it is parked and running?

My car has 118000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Misfire in engine
Hello. The most common cause of a misfire are the spark plugs. But there are times when the coil packs or spark plug wires can cause a misfire. If the car has a distributor cap and rotor, this may also...
Battery and/or Alternator issues
You should start by having the starting and charging system thoroughly tested to ensure both systems (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/alternator-or-car-battery-how-to-tell-which-part-is-the-problem) are working properly. It sounds like you have a large parasitic drain, which means something is drawing power from the battery when the...
Vehicle not accelerating as it should
Hello. Thankfully the Check Engine Light (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/check-engine-light-is-on-inspection) came on. These issues are easier to diagnose when the engine's computer has already detected what systems are showing issues. The first step is going to be to get the vehicle scanned for...
Engine temp reads low 2005 Chevrolet Impala
Hello - there are a couple of possible problems here: the thermostat may not be working properly, or the coolant temperature sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/question/temp-gauge-goes-up-and-down) for the gauge is not working correctly. A malfunctioning thermostat could allow enough engine heat for heater...
Wrench light and engine light on
Generally, the check engine light (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/check-engine-light-is-on-inspection) comes on when something fairly serious is going on with the vehicle. This can happen for many different reasons such as a faulty mass air flow sensor, a faulty O2 sensor, a bad catalytic...
Replaced my engine. Does the new one need to be adjusted to the higher elevation?
Check all of the sensors and make sure that they are plugged in all the way. The computer system with the sensors are designed to adjust themselves as elevation changes. This is why all vehicles today have computers in them...
My car pulls to the side when I leave acceleration and when I'm braking. What could be the real problem?
For the vehicle to move to the right as you accelerate, that would be an engine and transmission mount (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/engine-mount-replacement) that is either loose, damaged, or broken. For the vehicle to pull as you brake (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/car-pulls-to-left-or-right-when-i-brake-inspection), there could be an...
Car wont turn over. New battery and ignition coils.
Be sure the battery is actually fully charged (even a new battery can be discharged). If the starter motor is not even cranking the engine, among the first possibilities is a weak battery, excessive voltage drop in the starter circuit...
Push the gas pedal and the car moves slowly until it finally catches up. The engine sounds funny. How much to get it looked at?
What your car is experiencing is referred to as "loss of power". Among common possibilities for loss of power are throttle body faults (electronic throttle controls, mass airflow sensor, torn air intake hose), worn out spark plugs, faulty fuel pump...
