We were driving on a hot day and we put the A/C on and the air it was blowing was colder than if we didn't have the A/C on at all (i.e. when I turned off the A/C, the air coming from the vents got warmer) but certainly not as cold as it usually is and should be (we had it on the coldest setting). We had been driving for maybe 10 minutes and noticed the issue, we turned off the A/C but let the fan run by itself, when we turned the A/C back on the air was blowing cold again. My partner is going on a drive to Boston tomorrow and they are taking our cat with them (about 5 hours from where we are) and they are worried about potentially overheating. Should I try to get this checked out prior to the trip or is this (the blowing not optimally cold air) most likely an errant data point, given that the A/C now seems to be working fine again?
My car has an automatic transmission.
