While driving(Usually while going down hill), if I take my foot off the gas pedal, my car car stays at a constant speed but it feels like it's being pulled back, the RPM needle stays high and then drops down after a few seconds.
Example: I can be rolling down hill at 30mphs and the RPM stays stuck at 2,000 for a short time, and then suddenly jumps up very slightly and falls back down to where it should be. And the car continues rolling freely instead of feeling stuck. You can kind of hear a low hum in the engine when it happens. This all goes away if I press on the gas pedal again while it's happening.
The car does have a rough idle, and I have found about a 2 inch rip in the air intake, closer to where the filter sits. I've found people that say that vacuum leak is causing it, but then other people say hands down it's the transmission. I need more opinions on this because I'm preferring it to be just an air leak.
Trans fluid is not low or burnt or leaking.
My car has 149000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
