Q: Accelerator very high - 1994 Ford E-350 Econoline Club Wagon

asked by on September 10, 2016

The accelerator on my wagon is way too high. When you press on the gas pedal it drives way faster then it should. It will take off unusually fast! When it’s in park and you press on the gas then let go it acts as if you are still pressing on the gas for about 15 seconds. But you aren't. Do you know how I can get my accelerating back to normal? How can this be fixed?

Bad engine problems, should I get rid of the car?
You say the first engine overheated and the head gasket was replaced. I assume the thermostat was the cause. Depending on how hot the engine got before blowing the head gasket, it must of weakened the engine block so that...

When I went to change the timing belt there were 25 teeth were missing but it didn't jump time - how is this possible?

Car stuck in Park - 2010 Honda Civic
Hello - the inability to get the transmission out of Park is likely a failure of the neutral safety switch (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-long-does-a-neutral-safety-switch-last), preventing the shifter interlock mechanism from releasing the shifter. I would recommend an inspection of the shifter components (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/car-does-not-shift-from-park-to-drive-inspection)...
Caliber turns over but won't start?
Hi there. Assuming, you have reinstalled the original PCM (powertrain control module) and still won't start, circuit tests for the crankshaft position sensor need to be performed. A poor connection or broken wire (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/electric-problems-inspection) could be the cause for the...
My car struggles when put into gear.
Hi there. When you have problems with trying to shift the transmission into gear it is usually caused by a shift solenoid failure on CVT transmissions like your Altima has. However, it could also be a problem with internal transmission...
