Q: AC switch is working only sometimes

asked by on

Ac switch works some times
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hello. There are a lot of things that can cause this AC system to malfunction. The most common is low refrigerant. I always check the refrigerant level first before going any further. If the refrigerant level is fine then I have seen a lot of AC compressor relays fail on this vehicle. I would check that next. Most of the time one of these is the issue. If not then I install my scan tool and check the readings of the sensors in the climate control system as a failing temperature sensor can also cause this. If you are planning on having your AC problem looked at, consider YourMechanic, as a certified mechanic can come to your home or office to diagnose and repair this.
