Q: Multiple Issues

asked by on April 21, 2017

Laid off at work, getting divorced. 99 Chevy Truck 5.7 it had 192,000 when I got it but I have no money left to put into it.I get laid off and it dies on me and smashed in the passenger door and the extra cab door. right from the start the check engine light would go off and on permanent. So I had a pro look at it said, my 5 cylinder is misfiring and so I started on the list. New plugs and cables but nothing. It's only got worse now it back fires. You have to pump the gas to start it and keep on the gas or it dies. Once it gets going it stays running but sputters until I reach the speed and then it seems great until I have to give it more gas.Its lost all its power, It runs rich also. Won't stay running in park but will in drive.put it back on computer 5 cylinder still misfiring. I have a good idea it can be multiple things so I'm hoping someone has seen this before and fixed it. It gets like 2 miles a gallon right now and I'm ready to throw in the towel if I can't get just a little.

My car has 204000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
