Q: 97 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo that dosentbshift to 2nd gear, have to disconnect battery to reset computer sobit will work again

My jeep sometimes wont shift to 2nd gear so what i do is disconnect the battery to reset the computer on the car and then it shifts normally but then it gets rough and slips a bit and it happens again. What could cause that issue?

My car has 146000 miles.
