Q: 93 toyota 4 runner...lights dimming and battery or voltage meter on dash is at about 9. Usually at 14. Is this a battery or altena

asked by on December 27, 2017

Went to work today turned of my car. Unloaded my stuff and went to move my car and it would not start. Went in and worked for a couple hours. Came out and tried to start and it started right up. On my way home tonight I noticed as I was driving that my amperage meter was running at 9 when it usually runs at about 14. Then getting off freeway and stopped at the light my dash and headlights went dim and amperage went even lower. I drive an old toyota and money is tight so trying to figure out if I need a new battery or if I have a dying altenator. Any help would be totally appreciated. Today is the first time this has happened.

My car has 200000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
