Q: 350 will not run

asked by on November 30, 2016

Stock 350, freshly rebuilt Rochester 4bbl, new points ignition from dizzy to the plugs, new timing chain and verified TDC marks on crank and cam

Ignition timing set to 0* tdc. Good compression on all cylinders.

Fuel pressure regulator installed and set to 5 psi.

When I try to start it, must hold throttle to the floor and only then will it fire for 1 second, sputter, die, and shoot gas out of the vent on top of the carb that's above the metering rods.

Any help would be amazing
