Q: 2013 Honda Sports fit with numerous warning lights on.

asked by on January 03, 2017

No problem with car since purchase 12-30-13. This morning the following was experienced as I tried to start it: (VSA) Vehicle Stability Assist System Indicator on. (EPS) Electric Power Steering Indicator on.
TPMS indicator on but not the low tire indicator. (ABS) Anit-lock Brake System indicator on. Emergency brake light on even when brake is released. No indication on dashboard as to mileage (blank). Fuel indicator stays at empty although tank is over half full. Other lights that typically come on and blink off as the car starts, flicker on if the key is turned to see what warning lights are light up but the starter isn’t engaged. When attempting to start the car, all the lights flicker on and off and the car makes a rapid clicking noise. The starter does not engage. Is this the computer itself or is it another problem?

My car has 18200 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

US-made car parts vs. Chinese auto parts

Car sporadically idle high & runs around 1500 RPMS
Hi there. The most common causes of this on your vehicle are either a bad idle control valve (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/idle-control-valve-replacement), a dirty or failing throttle body (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/throttle-body-replacement), or a vacuum leak (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/is-it-safe-to-drive-with-a-vacuum-leak). It is very common for the engine to have...

how many serpentine belts does a 2005 Dodge Stratus have
Hey there. Your Dodge Stratus should have two main belts. One that runs the power steering pump and one that runs everything else (i.e. crankshaft, alternator, A/C). Oily thick coolant
Hi there. This is a sure sign of a blown head gasket (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-to-replace-a-head-gasket-by-jerel-lawrence). This can happen when the car overheats causing the cylinder head gasket to fail. When this happens, this will allow oil to leak into the engine coolant...
Strange electrical issues that seem unrelated
Hello. It does sound like you have a lot of electrical issues that may or may not be related. In order to find where the problems are, the circuits will need to be tested (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-to-check-fuses-by-rocco-lovetere) with a voltage meter. It...
Why won't my car go in reverse?
Hello - hopefully the few days where the transmission was losing fluid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/transmission-fluid-is-leaking-inspection) badly did not damage anything. Causes of "no reverse" include: valve body wear, especially the pressure regulator valve, a loose nut on the transmission main shaft (causes...
High RPM's after tune up.
Hi there. Sounds like the rodent that nested on the engine may have knocked off a vacuum hose or chewed through a vacuum hose. The engine idle could be high for a vacuum leak or the idle air control valve...
How can someone tell if it's timing chain or something else that would cause the motor to freeze up? Thanks.
Remove the timing chain cover and see if the chain is intact. If the chain is broken, then either the chain can bind up on the crankshaft sprocket or the pistons can come in contact with the valves when they...
