Q: 2011 Ford Escape 4cyl, egr valve replaced, yet still didn't accelerate after a while dad thinks it's the injectors any help

2011 Ford Escape, L4-2.5L. Mother was out shopping when car sputtered, and wouldn't accelerate (step on gas pedal lost "power"). Dad and I Internet search for cause, 'net returns EGR Valve is faulty, purchase and replace valve. I test drive car down street, no problems. Test continues this time around city block (Tucson, AZ), again good. Third test is to take it on the I-10. I get to the end of the street, stop, turn Left onto busy street and car does the same thing (acts like not getting gas) engine light pops on (and open-ended wrench light), turn vehicle off and wait with hazards on for about 3 to 5 mins. Turn car over starts fine, put in drive, turn around in apartment lot, come home park. Dad sends me to local auto store and I purchase injector cleaner and octane boost. Let sit over night, Dad thinks it's a clogged or faulty injector. Any help for this will be grearly appreciated, thank you
