Q: After shifting into gear, i can accelerate but then there is no power to accelerate.

Once I shift into a gear, there is acceleration for a few seconds then I lose any ability to accelerate... I then shift into the next gear, and I can accelerate for a bit, then I lose power again. What is the problem?

My car has 130000 miles.
