Q: 2004 Nissan maxima shoots up to 3000rpm on ignition

asked by on December 26, 2017

I just acquired the 2004 Nissan maxima. On igniting the engine without driving, it shoots up to 3000rpm and never comes back to 1000rpm. I also have this feeling that it consumes fuel.

Shooting up to 3000rpm, is it something to be worried about?

My car has 146150 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
