Q: 2002 Chevy duramax. Coolant has been leaking out of the overflow. I purged air out of the lines but air got back into the lines.

Coolant level is fluctuating more that normal. When driving and reving the engine coolant will spray out of the overflow. The low coolant light turns on and off. The heat comes and goes and the engine temp gauge will sometimes stay at 160 (the lowest temp on the gauge) after 20 minutes of driving or it will change rapidly but never overheats in 0 degree weather. I figured I had air in the lines so I purged the lines. I was able to add more than a gallon of coolant but after 1 hour there was still air slowly coming out of the lines. I am a do it my self kind of guy but I don’t have to experience or knowledge to fix this. I was thinking a head gasket leak but my exhaust isn’t smoking... any help or suggestions would be awesome. Thanks
