Q: 2000 ford f150 good start but shakes really bad when driving and misfire codes and noises even after changing ignition system

asked by on March 11, 2018

The issue is well I'm not certain. We have changed all ignition components and it didn't help at all. The truck is misfiring bad, cylinder 3, and had lean codes. It will start fine and idle good for 5 minutes but then it starts revving up and down and the truck Will shake and sometimes shut off. On the road it shakes really bad you can feel it in the steering wheel and it doesn't have all the power it should. It kinda sounds like an exhaust leak but I know for sure it's not it's something in that engine. My dad cadlls it spark knocking. Sometimes going through a drive through it shakes bad like you can see it bounce up and down and when u pull forward the rpms go crazy and it pulls and stops and pulls and stops it really isn't normal.

My car has 200000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

What Is a Twin-Cam Engine?

Just had the intake manifold replaced and now got it back from the mechanic and the car runs like crap an sounds bad
It's hard to give a specific answer with the amount of information supplied. I would need to see the vehicle to hear and see the problem myself. Why was the intake manifold in need of replacement? Was it a recall...

My steering has locked up what should I do?
Hello, thank you for writing in. Without knowing the make and model of your vehicle it is impossible to know what type of power steering system you have. If you have a traditional pump driven system, the first thing to...

Unfortunately, the stripped bolt in your water pump housing may very well have backed out causing the seal on the water pump gasket to be compromised resulting in the pump leaking coolant which may cause the motor to overheat. Depending...
Heater core hose pressure and overheating.
It sounds like you may have a restriction in your heater hose. The cooling system is pressurized and if a restriction exists within one of the hoses, this can cause the hose to pop off of the end the restriction...
