Coronavirus (COVID-19) Resources & Updates

YourMechanic will continue operating uninterrupted, as car repair has been deemed an essential service, even in areas with lockdown regulations. Community health and safety is our top priority and we are continuously monitoring the latest recommendations from leading health organizations such as WHO and CDC . Best practices are being constantly communicated to ensure that customers and technicians know how to protect themselves and others during appointments.

Steps we are taking

Contactless Service Appointments

Our technicians receive up-to-date recommendations for best practices based on CDC guidelines. These include frequent hand sanitization, a 6-feet social distance recommendation, and support to have contactless appointments, which allow customers and technicians to avoid physical proximity. In order to have a completely contactless appointment, customers need to call or text their mechanics prior to their appointment in order to arrange for contactless key exchange, such as hiding car keys under a doormat or in a safe place around your vehicle. Please note that technicians aim to avoid touching car interior surfaces unnecessarily, however, during a contactless appointment, they will need to access customers’ keys and the inside of customers’ vehicles in order to complete their jobs properly.

Protecting Our Community

We are diligently following the latest research and recommendations from the CDC and relaying all best practices to our network of customers, mechanics and suppliers as quickly as possible. In addition, we are working with the community to ensure that anyone who may be in contact with a customer or mechanic with COVID-19 symptoms or positive tests is notified promptly. Mechanics who have any symptoms, or asymptomatic positive COVID-19 tests, will have their service schedules immediately paused until they are cleared by a healthcare provider. In such circumstances, YourMechanic’s team will notify all individuals who may have been impacted through contact.

Recommendations For Customers

As part of social distancing, we suggest a big wave and a simple "hello" instead of a handshake when greeting your mechanic. For a contactless appointment, feel free to message your mechanic from your online account before they arrive to share instructions about how they can access your vehicle without having to come outside to meet them. You can specify your car concerns, authorize repairs and pay without contact, however during a contactless appointment your mechanic will need to access your car keys and the inside of your vehicle in order to complete their job properly. If you want to avoid all physical contact with your mechanic, please arrange to hide your keys near your car, under your doormat, etc., and call or text your mechanic prior to the appointment so that they know how to access your keys. Additionally, the best way to avoid germ spread is prevention, so please wash your hands frequently, and keep an appropriate 6-feet distance away from mechanics. If you need to cancel any appointments because you have been exposed to COVID-19, please call us so we can waive the cancellation fee.

Thank you for being a valued YourMechanic customer! We will be updating our community of customers and mechanics of all developments in a timeliest manner. To read more about proper safety precautions, visit CDC or WHO .
