Answers to common Mercedes-Benz 200 questions

Q: installed new throttle body and drove car for about 5 miles and the lightning bolt indicator came on again.
Answered by Ronny
The pcm - powertrain control module - should have "learned" after driving, that there was a new throttle body in place and corrected itself. If the light is back on and the same code for throttle body / throttle position...
Q: After jump-starting my car it won't shift gears.
Answered by Marvin
Hi there. There could be an issue with either the shifter or the transmission position sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/transmission-position-sensor-switch-replacement). If the vehicle was jump-started with the transmission in neutral, then it is possible that the shock from the battery cables being spiked...
Q: Autozone says the camshaft timing is "over retarded" and this is causing the engine light to be illuminated.
Answered by Marvin
Try changing the engine oil and filter (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/change-oil-and-filter) to a good type of oil and filter. This will help with the VCM system and keep it functioning properly. If the VCM continues to act up and cause the engine oil...

This sensor is not related to the...

Trusted by thousands of happy car owners

Paul did a good job fixing my car quickly. He also got a accurate diagnostic of my car's isues.

I can't say enough about how pleased I am that I found YourMechanic and Raul. I'm from out of town and didn't know who to contact to fix a truck I was borrowing. I searched the web and found YourMechanic.....thank goodness. I found Raul to be professional, an outstanding mechanic and the price was more than fair.

Whitney went above and beyond in solving my issues. Extremely friendly and extremely professional! Thanks, Whitney!
