My 2011 Toyota Sienna will not stay running when shifted to drive. When turning on the vehicle there are no dash lights (rpm, odometer, fuel, temperature) while in drive. However, when put into reverse all the lights come on a vehicle will reverse. When put into drive, all lights instantly off and vehicle dies. Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the fuses? The dashboard bulbs? Currently looking at manual. Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Sienna yourself? What have you tried so far? Nothing yet, as this just happened trying to leave for work. Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? No that’s the only issue at the moment

Hello Chentale. Nice to hear from you today! I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem. I know this can be frustrating. Bear with me as I am working with a few customers at this moment. Was anything done to your vehicle that may have caused this problem?

No there has not been anything that has occurred. Yesterday evening it was driving perfectly fine. Nothing odd or indicating any issues.

Is anything aftermarket wired into your vehicle like a remote start or alarm system at all?

No there is not

Thank you for your reply and that information as this does help me better understand the situation. Please give me one moment to type out some info for you. I’ll be right back! Thank you for holding Chentale! The fault that is described above occurring with your vehicle can indicate an issue with the electronic ignition switch. The electronic ignition switch can act up internally electronically to where it will cause electrical issues like this. It can suddenly act up on its own to where it has to be replaced. What will need to be done is to have the wiring checked at and leading to the switch for any issues. If a fault is found it will need to be repaired. If the wiring is checked and found to be o.k. then the switch itself will need to be tested to see if it has an internal electrical fault with it needing to be replaced. This type of testing can cost around $100 at a shop or dealer. If the wiring has to be repaired this may cost around an additional $100. If the switch is found to be faulty and has to be replaced this can cost over $200 in some cases to have it replaced. I also recommend before the switch is looked into as the cause that the vehicle battery cables are checked to see if they are loose or corroded at the battery. Loose or corroded cables or connections can also cause this fault that would need to be resolved.

Thank you, \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* look into those issues!
