Q: My 2004 Nissan 350z hesitates when accelarating

asked by on March 20, 2017

Recent upgrades or new parts: Iridum spark plugs, fan belts, new mass air flow sensor, PCV valve. The car hesitates when accelerating. However, once it's in the open road it drives ok (not great). I've taken out the K&N filter and placed a normal paper filter in (not much different). The car was driving at cruise control and going uphill it stalled slightly and took itself off of cruise control. My mechanic ran it through the PC (diagnostics) and said that everything is running fine.

My car has 78250 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.

Engine hesitates during acceleration Inspection $94.99 - $114.99 Get a Quote

There are a number of things that may cause the car to hesitate when accelerating such as low fuel pressure, a dirty or faulty mass air flow sensor, clogged or dirty fuel injectors, a faulty throttle position sensor or potentially a bad fuel pump. I would recommend having a professional from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose and inspect your vehicle.

My engine light was on so I took my vehicle to auto zone and got a p0014 code read. It says the exhaust camshaft positioning timing is over advanced. Can you help?
Hi there: The P0014 is the OBD-II generic code (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0014-obd-ii-trouble-code-camshaft-position-b-timing-over-advanced-or-system-performance-bank-1-by-jay-safford) that the engine control module (ECM) has determined that the bank 1 exhaust camshaft is more advanced than what the ECM has commanded it be. I'm a bit confused. You show 1 timing chain, my 2006 CTS has a total of three. Perhaps you're suggesting that the main chain is damaged.
When it comes to replacing the timing chain in your vehicle, it is best to replace all of the timing chains. For your engine, the camshaft timing chains are more likely to stretch more than the main drive timing chain....
