How to Download a Chevy Owner’s Manual

When you buy a new car, you’re provided with original documents and books related to your vehicle. The materials you receive include:

  • Your audio system operating information
  • Your owner’s manual
  • Your recommended maintenance schedule

These manuals help you know how to react when you encounter certain problems or warning lights, how to best keep your vehicle maintained, and how to operate the features inside your vehicle.

There’s a chance you may not have an owner’s manual for your Chevrolet vehicle. You may have bought a pre-owned car that didn’t have the manuals with it, lost or discarded your owner’s manual, or maybe you thought you didn’t need the support manuals for your car’s functions.

If you don’t have your owner’s manual in print form, you can download it online.

Method 1 of 2: Download your newer Chevy’s owner’s manual

Step 1: Navigate in your web browser to Chevrolet’s website.

The home page will display current car ads and new models on the screen.

Step 2: Locate the “Owners” link on the upper right corner of the screen. Click on “Owners.”

Step 3: Find the “Manuals & Videos” section. In the “Vehicle Ownership” section, click on “Manuals & Videos.”

You’ll continue to a screen with vehicle options.

Step 4: Select your Chevy vehicle’s model year from the top bar. The nine most recent model years are available in this section.

Click on your vehicle’s model year to see the model selection for that year.

For example, if you drive a 2011 Chevy Avalanche, click on 2011 on the top bar. The following results will be displayed:

Step 5: Locate your vehicle model. In the example of a 2011 Avalanche, it’s the first one on the screen. Scroll down if your model isn’t immediately visible.

Step 6: View the owner’s manual for your car. Under your vehicle’s model name, click on the link “View Owner’s Manual”.

A new window will open and your owner’s manual will be displayed on your screen.

The owner’s manual will be displayed in PDF format.

  • Tip: If you aren’t able to open files in PDF format, download Adobe Reader and try clicking the link again.

Step 7: Save the PDF file to your computer. Right-click on the PDF file of your Chevy owner’s manual.

In the menu, select “Save as…” to save your owner’s manual to a specific location.

Select a place to save the manual that you will recall. It can be saved to your desktop or easy access or to an easily accessible folder such as “Downloads”.

Step 8: Print the owner’s manual. In addition to saving it to your computer electronically, you can print a copy for your records.

Right click on the PDF owner’s manual on your screen and select the “Print…” option.

Select your printer and click on print.

  • Tip: Most owner’s manuals are hundreds of pages long. If you are printing from home, monitor your printer to refill it with paper when it runs low.

Method 2 of 2: Download your older Chevy’s owner’s manual

If you have an older Chevy vehicle, you’ll need to pull up the owner’s manual in a different location on the Chevrolet website. Owner’s manuals are available for model years 1993 and newer.

Step 1: Navigate in your web browser to my.chevrolet.com.

This is the online Chevrolet Owner Center where you can find your owner’s manual as well as other support systems such as dealer service history information, vehicle recalls, and OnStar diagnostic reports.

Step 2: Choose your vehicle. In the middle of the current window, input your vehicle year, make, and model where it says “Choose your vehicle to get started.”

Year, make, and model are all drop-down selection boxes to choose your specific vehicle.

Step 3: Click “GO” to retrieve your vehicle’s available resources*.

It’s right beside a yellow box reading “Learn About Your Vehicle.”

Click on the box to view the owner’s manual for the vehicle you selected.

Step 6: Save the PDF file to your computer.

Step 7: Print the owner’s manual.

Now that you have the owner’s manual for your Chevrolet vehicle, it’s a good idea to keep your owner’s manual on hand. Have a physical copy in your car if you like, as well as on your computer, so you can quickly and easily reference it for any information you may need.
